Questions
ABOUT THE PROJECT
What are we building?
A 27,000 square foot, two-floor facility to include a Fellowship Center, nurseries, large, handicap accessible restrooms, a temporary Youth Room, and storage area.
Why are we doing this?
To follow our Lord's command to reach out and teach those in our community who do not have a relationship with Him. Statistics show that 60% of the Downriver population falls into this category.
ABOUT VOLUNTEERING YOUR TIME & TALENTS
What teams are being formed for the project?
Team leaders for four teams have been assigned. Three of the teams require 50 people each to help. No one will be asked to serve on more than one team. You may volunteer to serve where needed or on a specific team. The teams are:
· Advance Commitment Team – seeks to identify church leaders and hosts a large gathering where they can be inspired and encouraged to make their commitments before everyone else as an example and word of encouragement for the rest of the congregation. Tasks of Advance Commitment Team members will include RSVP phone calls to those invited and assisting at the gathering with name tags, seating, etc. 15-20 people are needed.
· Information Distribution – will help distribute the information packets to all members of the church at all of our various services on two Sundays during February. 50 people are needed.
· Invitation Team – will phone every household in the congregation to personally invite them to the worship services and fellowship activities associated with the All Church Event scheduled for March 18. Invitation Team members may also be asked to assist hosting functions at the All Church Event. 50 people are needed.
· Response Call Team - will be responsible for phoning every household from whom a commitment card has not been received by one week after the special event on March 18. The caller will encourage those they contact to return their commitment card to the church before Celebration Sunday on April 1. 50 people are needed.
How can I volunteer?
You may volunteer by filling out the form on this website or contacting someone in the church office. Specify a team or ask to serve where you're needed.
ABOUT YOUR PLEDGE/COMMITMENT
What is a commitment card?
A commitment card helps the church to understand what kinds of gifts to expect and when to expect them. By completing this card you allow the church to move forward with a thoughtful, wise financial plan.
Why is important to fill out a commitment card?
Campaign commitments are intended to be over and above regular and ongoing church support. Without a registered commitment, we have no way of knowing where we stand in relation to accomplishing campaign goals.
What if my circumstances change after I have made a pledge?
A commitment card is a statement of intent, not a contract. If your financial situation changes significantly, your giving should also change. Simply contact the church to adjust your commitment – let the church know about the change (increase, decrease, or timing) in your giving.
When do I begin giving? How long will this campaign last?
We are asking for a three year financial response that formally begins this spring. You decide your personal giving schedule – weekly, monthly, quarterly, one time gifts or asset transfers, or another schedule of your choice. Decide on a schedule that works for you; then, help the church understand your giving plan.
How can we prepare to participate?
Pray. Allow God to speak to your heart through His Word. Read Scripture passages such as I Chronicles 29:11-12, 14-16, Philippians 4:19, Luke 6:38, Deuteronomy 16:7, Mark 12:41-44 and II Corinthians 9:7. A daily devotional has been distributed with your information packet.
Whom can I contact if I have questions?
Questions can be addressed to Al Utter, For Generations to Come Program Leader, 419-345-3899 or send him a question via the "Contacts" tab on this website.
